Introducing an easy reader designed to help children build confidence in their reading skills.

What is an easy reader?

Good question. An easy reader, like my newest book, is a story written using simple words. It should still follow a story arc, with a beginning, middle and end, it is a story after all. That seems to be all the agreement that different publishers can come to. Each company seems to make up its own rules for what they publish under this title.

So what is a parent or teacher to do?

If at all possible, read the story. An easy reader should be something that an adult can breeze through in a couple of minutes. If it takes longer, or you spot paragraphs on each page, long or difficult words, then it may be a for a higher level of reader.

As a parent, I own easy reader books from a variety of the big name publishers and I can say that what they all easy readers are often too much more my struggling reader, but perfect for my children that picked up reading easily. As a parent or teacher, the time to read and evaluate each book is time well spent.

What about the font?

My newest book comes in two font choices. One is specific for Dyslexics, but their is no scientific proof that it works any better than other fonts. I can not make any guarantee that any particular font is better than any other font. I picked the fonts that appeal to me and that my own child likes.
