What Is the 100 Books or 100 Days Reading Challenge?

This challenge is a flexible reading challenge designed to meet you where you are at and encourage you to read more. The 100 Books or 100 Days Reading Challenge gives families two simple options so every reader can succeed. No more guilt, no more cramming at the last minute or worse giving up because it all became overwhelming.

This is a choose your challenge to meet your real-life kind of challenge. And I am here to root you on along the way.

Throughout the year I will have new books to read, the occasional free ebook, some random free printables for you to snag to encourage your kids or yourself. But these are all optional. You can do this on your own, or you can join me by signing up for my dedicated newsletter, and if there is enough interest we can set up a group to cheer each other on. Find the link below.

Audiobooks Count in This Reading Challenge 🎧

Audiobooks are an important part of reading.

Listening to books helps children build vocabulary, comprehension, and listening skills—especially for reluctant readers or busy families. Audiobooks also allow parents and children to enjoy stories together during car rides, chores, and quiet time.

If your family learns best by listening, this reading challenge is for you.

Why Parents Should Join the Family Reading Challenge

Children who see their parents reading grow up believing reading matters.

When moms and dads take the reading challenge alongside their children:

  • Reading becomes a normal part of daily life
  • Stories become shared family experiences
  • Conversations deepen naturally

Parents do not need to read the same books—simply modeling a love of reading makes a lasting impact.

Free Reading Challenge Printables

To help families stay motivated, I’ve created free printable reading challenge trackers you can use at home or in a classroom, even the library can get in on it.

These printables help children visually track their progress and celebrate milestones along the way. There is a set of 18×24 posters, just upload to your favorite printer to have them printed, or smaller home printer sized pages 8.5 x14(this is my favorite size) and 8.5×11

Simple Ways to Fit Reading Into Your Day

One reason families love this reading challenge is its flexibility.

    • Pick one time of day to read for 5 minutes
      • at the breakfast table, before or after lunch, right after dinner, or before bed
      • Remember the time of day is less important than picking a time that really works for you.
    • Set a daily family reading time
      • Lets be real, we all wish that naps could still be a think even after the kids age up, family reading time is the next best thing. It gives you a few moments to destress and be quiet.
    • Keep books and audiobooks within easy reach
    • One reason audiobooks are great is you don’t need extra time, you can listen in the car, you can listen as a group, it is the ultimate in flexible.

Reading doesn’t need to be long to be meaningful. Even 5 minutes, the length of a children’s picture book, had possitive benefits.
