Book Themed Activities for The Little Blue Flamingo

It’s a well known truth that kids learned through play. They also learn to love books when books are a normal part of their day. From morning baskets to bedtime stories, books are part of learning. I just love it when I can take it a step farther and include hands on activities to go with a story. This is perfect for those times when a child just can’t be still, or its rainy outside and you want to corral your kids into a quieter inside activity.

I know that is how I have used these things over the years.

The Book

This image is of the book titled "The Little Blue Flamingo" it is a pink book with a blue flamingo along with the title of the book on a white background.

The Little Blue Flamingo askes the hard questions. She wants to know ‘why’. Why she is different. This is a great book for talking about differences in people and why animals are created just the way they are. Why are Flamingo’s pink anyway? (Hint, it’s in their diet). This book is such a great jumping off book for many different why topics, but in the end, it’s a book that reassures children that no matter how different they are, or feel, they are loved. You can read more about it here, or purchase it in my store, or at most bookstores online.
