How to Evaluate Your Small Business

I know many of you are exhausted by the race to grab as many Christmas sales as you can, but for me, Christmas slows down so that I can spend this time with my family. I have a few events planned, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not going to stress about it. This is not the month that brings me into the black. For me, that is the gift of POD(Print On Demand). So I am taking this morning to evaluate how my year has gone and make some plans for the new year. How often do you evaluate how your business is doing? I suggest you do mini evaluations every 3 months and a big one, once a year. How to evaluate, this varies by person here is my list:
- Am I meeting my sales goals?
- Am I meeting my consistency goals?
- Am I meeting the needs of my potential customers?
- Am I making a difference in for anyone? Including myself?
How would you answer these questions? My sales have grown this year, almost double, last years sales and 3x my first years sales. This surpasses my expectations.
I’m writing a blog post that will cover the rest of my answers but I will say about #4. Am I making a difference. Well based on the tears I have seen and the conversations I have had, the answer is YES! Bonus, by making a book in Spanish, I am reaching more kids than ever. Its so cool to know that this book has been sent to at least 4 kids in other countries as gifts. www.smarturl.it/Elefantita even without amazon reviews I am making sales.
My next step is making my goals and plans for next year. I have at least 6 books scheduled. If I don’t make all 6 that’s okay, too. That is where reevaluations are key.

(Side note: I didn’t write this on Christmas, Day, I was playing around and didn’t realize that I never posted it. I’m okay with that.)

Awesome post! Keep up the great work! 🙂
