How to Have Amazing Homeschool Day When Your NOT a Morning Person
You read it here, I’m not a morning person, and something tells me that I’m not alone. If you spend any time on social media then you make think that you just need more coffee…maybe… But I don’t drink coffee. And maybe, just maybe there is another solution. A solution that involves getting more sleep and working with your bodies natural rhythm.
It took me a year to realize I was fighting more than my kids, it wasn’t because homeschool was a bad fit, it was because I was trying to make homeschooling look like school. The crazy part is, I was MORE exhausted at home that I had been when I had to wake up early and get the kids to school before 8. That is when I made a new schedule, a schedule I’ll share with you for free.

At the time I had a 12 yr old, a 8 yr old and a 1 yr old, and my husband pointed out that our kids where always much happier and in the afternoons. Why don’t I try starting school after lunch? What would it hurt, we where homeschooling after all, that meant that I got to set the schedule. My mind was blow, he was right!
What I discovered the next year was that my teenager did amazing with the new schedule but my 8 year old was even more tired! That was when we came up with yet another new schedule, one that worked for everyone in my house. The one I’m sharing with you, is for elementary students. That is because our natural rhythms Change as we grow and mature.

I use my Day Planner Page to help my kids know what to expect from day to day. Its great to laminate and have two. One is for our “NORMAL” day and one for those odd days when you have appointments or field trips changing up the pattern of your day.
Like everything, life around here evolves and changes. Last year we had two daily schedules one was our home days, and one was our ‘out’ days, Typically we had 3 home days and 2 ‘out’ days, it worked for us until the world shut down, and I am hoping it will work for us again, but for now, we take things one day at a time, and a flexible planning page, that still manages to give my kids a sense routine, has been a blessing, I hope it can help you in the same way.
I uploaded my AWESOME HOMESCHOOL DAY printable planner page for FREE in my FREE LIBRARY. You can sign up to access to it below.
