Free Printable Paper Porcupine Themed Craft

Are you looking for some fun activities to do with your children? We had so much fun making the Porcupine masks that we decided to make a 3D Porcupine Picture Craft. Like the mask this goes along with my book “The Little Purple Porcupine” my design makes a purple porcupine, but I’ve included outline’s that you can use to save ink or make in your own unique color combinations.

Directions:

Download and print my pattern pieces. Make sure to print the main body page on cardstock. It needs to be heavier paper. Print the “quills” on regular weight paper. Carefully cut out the quills. You can use the outline or the colored quills. You need one page of long quills and one page of short quills. Glue pompom on for a nose.

Glue down the longer quills first, lay them out along the bottom or belly area of the porcupine, with a few laying flat along the tail. Then layer the shorter quills on top. Allign some of this so that the tips are just below the long quills, keep layer this way until you have a layer that lines up along the bottom (belly) of the porcupine. Allow time to dry. After it dries the paper should start to curl out giving a 3D effect if not, you can lightly curl the quills forward.
