Summer Fun Boredom Buster Series: Creative Toilet Roll Animals

This summer let your kids’ imaginations rule. I’m happy to give you ideas, suggestions, even templates, but in the end, let your child’s imagination run wild. I have found that when I try to get a certain outcome from my kids, we are both more irritable, and the process stops being fun.

Instead provide the tools and let the kids decide what to do! In this case having fun with toilet paper rolls, or just paper. The cool thing about this craft is that toilet rolls are an easy way to start, they aren’t actually required, but you do need sturdy paper, cardstock often works just as well.

What you need:

  • Templates (optional-you can always search Pinterest for ideas)
  • A variety of colored papers, or color ink printer.
  • empty toilet paper rolls, or cardstock
  • paper fasteners (brads), or staples
  • glue
  • scissors
  • small hole punch (smaller then the paper fasteners.)
  • markers
  • other decorations such as googly eyes, pompoms, yarn, and sequins can be fun!

I’ve got exclusive patterns for a donkey, an elephant, and a dragon in my free Resource Library to get you started. All you need to do to gain access is join my mailing list. Join below and get the pdf sent directly to your email box.

Directions:

Each Template has some basic insturctions, feel free to make a sample for or with your child, then tell them to have fun and see what they make. At the end take a picture of your child with their creations.

Congratulations you just made a memory for your child, a memory that things don’t have to be perfect to have fun, isn’t that they best kind of lesson…er memory 🙂
