Looking for an easy and adorable craft to spark creativity and curiosity in your little ones? This Paper Roll Panda Craft is the perfect project! It’s simple, hands-on, and makes a great companion activity to the book Little Panda, What Do You See? — a sweet story about curiosity and noticing the world around you. Plus, you can totally make this without any special items from a craft store, just stuff you already have. 📚 Book Pairing: Little Panda, What Do You See?
Before you begin crafting, or as a cozy wind-down afterward, read Little Panda, What Do You See? together. Follow a curious little panda as he peers through the bamboo forest and up at the birds flying past overhead, wondering and imagining what’s just beyond. It’s a gentle, engaging book that celebrates curiosity and attentiveness — perfect themes to reflect while crafting!
🐼 What You’ll Need:
- printer and template
- 2 sheets White Cardstock
- scissors
- glue
- googly eyes
- Black marker
- Optional: Tape, paper clips
✂️ How to Make Your Paper Roll Panda:
Print and carefully cut out the pieces.
1. Cut one piece of cardstock into 4 in x 8 in. piece.
2. Glue the two short sides so they over lap and glue together. (Hold until glue dries, or find something to hold it for you)
3. Glue on the black arms and legs to the tube created with the 4×8 cardstock.
4. Take the large oval and glue the smaller over to the bottom as in the picture.
5. Glue on the two half circle as ears.
6. Glue on the two larger triangles as eye patches.
7. Blue on the smaller rectangle as a nose
6. Use the black marker to draw on the mouth.
7. Attach googly eyes.

♻️ Bonus: Make It with Recycled Materials!
Give your craft an earth-friendly twist by using items you already have:
- Body: Use a clean toilet paper roll.
- White Paper: Reuse the back of old cards to cut out the head and muzzle.
- Black Paper: Cut from old magazines or color recycled paper with a black crayon or marker.
- Eyes: Draw on scrap paper or use black buttons or cut-out paper circles.
- Glue: A flour-and-water paste works as an emergency glue substitute.
Let your kids get creative and curious with how they use found materials — just like Little Panda is curious about the world!
🐾 Extend the Fun:
- Take your panda on an “I Spy” nature walk and ask, “What do you see?”
- Invite your child to draw what they see around them like Little Panda does.
- Lay down on a blanket and look up at the sky, what do you see?
