How to Make a Crab Paper Plate Craft for Kids Summer Beach Activity
I love taking a story beyond the pages of a book. When children create, imagine, and build something connected to a story, they have the opportunity to revisit the characters, explore the message, and make meaningful memories along the way.

This simple Craft is the perfect companion activity for Take a Walk on the Beach. With just a few simple supplies, children can create their very own crab while listening to the story, or remembering it.
Whether you are reading at home, adding it to a homeschool unit study, or looking for a fun classroom activity, this little crab craft is sure to bring smiles to everyone’s faces!
About Take a Walk on the Beach
Meet a little crab on the beach — this one you can keep!
Perfect for ages 4–6, Take a Walk on the Beach is perfect for beginning readers. Designed to reinforce reading skills, this book has short easy sentences that lead them through a sweet story, reminding them of walks they may have enjoyed on the beach themselves. With a bonus reminder to be good stewards and to leave the beach as they found it.

Extend the Learning
Crafts are a wonderful way to help children connect with the books they read. After making your crab take some time to talk about the story, or just remember your last beach visit:
- Can you retell me the story?
- Did this remind you of a trip yourself?
- What was your favorite part of the story?
- Have you ever taken a walk on a beach?
- What did you find on the beach?
- Did you learn anything?
