12 Days of Christmas Ornaments – Day Four is all about Angels

Have you seen Days One, Two, or Three in this series? If not, you can find them listed on my Series Page. Day One was Snow People, Day Two was Gnomes, Day Three was 3D Felt Ornaments.

A quick recap, this year I decided we could make a themed tree that is ALSO full of sentimental value, and ditch the filler ornaments for good. My youngest cheered, already though, her enthusiasm is waning. She doesn’t want be set to making a certain number of ornaments, so I may have to rethink that element. On Day Three we made a video, that helped respark her interest. As with all things, what sounds good to us adults doesn’t always work out in practice.

Follow along, and maybe be inspired to make a few new ornaments yourself. Today we are making Angles.

Angel Ornaments

What you need:

• 1 inch wood beads
• white felt
• cotton yarn (I use, I LOVE THIS YARN Brand)
• wool (for the hair)
• yellow pipe cleaner
• Yarn needle
• Template (Can be found in my Resource Library)
• hot glue gun and glue
• hodgepodge (optional)
• string (for hanging)
• fine tip Sharpies

Directions:

Hodge podge the wood bead, this is to prevent the sharpie from bleading when you make the face. Then cut the dress and the wings and set aside.

Slip stitch a 12 inch long piece of cotton yarn for the body and legs, and a 6 inch piece for the arms. Tie on the piece of string for hanging so that it is at about the middle of the 12 long piece, use this to thread it through the wood bead once it is dry.

Shape a small piece of pipe cleaner for a halo. Ad a bit of glue to the top of the head to hold the cotton yarn, pipe cleaner in place. Tear off a piece of wool fluff and glue down under the halo and around the head.

Glue the arms to the middle of the wings. Line up the ‘body’ on the dress with the head above the dress. Put a dot of glue at the top to attach the dress to the ‘body’ then fold and glue the dress into a cone shape around the ‘body’. Glue the wings and arms into place. Add a touch of glue to hold the dress to the head.

Draw face or leave blank.
