12 Days of Christmas Ornaments – Day Two is Gnomes!

A quick recap, this year my youngest daughter seriously needs more hands on activities. She cheered, that means more time crafting, less time reading, so she thinks. We shall see if her enthusiasm persists to the end of the series!

My goal is to have 5 each of twelve different ornaments. Day One was Snowmen.

Follow along, and maybe be inspired to make a few new ornaments yourself.

Gnomes

What you need:

Low heat hot glue gun. (seriously do not try this with high heat you will get burned)

For the Larger Gnomes

• 1 in. wooden beads
• 1/2 in. flesh toned or pompom’s
• 2 in. x 2 in. square of felt for hat
• 1.5 x 1.5 in. square of felt for beard
• 3-6 strands of 4 in. long white yarn (for braids)
• 1/2 in. white pompom for hat (optional)
• Scrap yarn
• String to hang the ornament

For the Smaller Gnomes

• 1/2 in wooden beads
• 1/4 in flesh toned pompom (optional)
• 2 in. x 1 in. square of felt for hat
• 1 in. x 1 in. square of felt for beard
• 3-6 strands of 2.5 in. long white yarn (for braids)
• 1/4 in. white pompom for hat (optional)
• Scrap yarn
• String to hang the ornament

Directions: Cut your felt according to the directions in Figures A and B above. Glue the hat into a cone shape, overlapping the edge. If your want braids tie the yarn in the middle, braid each side and tie a ribbon on each end. Glue over the top of the head, then glue the hat on the head over the breads. Glue the skin toned pompom just under the edge of the hat. If giving it a beard glue it under the nose. Have fun!
