12 Days of Christmas Ornaments – Day Six is Snow Flakes!
This one was harder than I thought. I want ornaments that will last, I’m not looking at pipe cleaners and beads. The just bend out of shape so easily, and leave me wondering the next year, what it was originally. I’m also trying to use supplies on hand, as much as possible. In the end we used straws, and clear buttons.
This was my inspiration if you want to see the orginal – https://redtedart.com/traditional-straw-star-ornaments/
What you need:
- 2 straws
- hot glue gun (I suggest low heat)
- thread
- buttons
- scissors
Directions:
Cut the first straw in half and glue together at the middle, press down at the glue point. Cut a piece of string 12-15 inches long and glue one end to the back of the straws. Once the glue is cool, weave it around the four spikes two times. Cut the second straw into thirds, cut the ends at angles if desired. Press down and glue two of the straw pieces at angles on top of the first set of straws. Weave the the string around all eight spikes, then glue the ends to the back. Glue on the buttons. Make a hanger from string. Glue hanger inside the top of one straw. Once dry hang on tree.
